IMM Cologne

The EMU 2018 collections:
functional and comfortable design solutions.

At the IMM in Cologne, EMU presents its latest new features for 2018.
The company has recently launched a substantial development plan involving boosting the brand’s international position and strong investment in manufacturing facilities. Construction has also recently begun on a Design & Simulation Centre, dedicated to research and development of new products, to be opened in the next couple of months.

The prestigious collaboration with the FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano is part of this process of change, founded on shared values such as attention to beauty, the promotion of excellence and a love of art, which EMU and FAI are committed to promoting through their respective missions. The 2018 catalogue is an integral part of this partnership: the Foundation’s properties, which are the focal point of the national cultural and artistic landscape, become the ideal backdrop for EMU’s collections developed by the brand in collaboration with internationally renowned designers. Each shot taken in these beautiful locations emphasises the sophisticated design of our furnishing ranges, as well as the beauty of the locations themselves. EMU is therefore an ambassador of the world of Italian culture and style, promoting knowledge, respect and care for the environment.

Among the novelties in 2018 we find the re-edition of the Cross collection, designed for EMU by Rodolfo Dordoni; the new collection retains the plastic design of the original series, combining soft lines and formal rigidity but interpreting them through a combination of different materials.

For next season, Studio Chiaramonte/Marin and EMU present Modern, a collection of classic-contemporary style seating that makes the contrast between the fluidity of the shapes and the rigidity of the material its distinctive feature.

The Cone collection is another new addition by Chiaramonte/Marin; a range of outdoor lamps inspired by the elegant forms of the 50’s, modernised by a skillful use of innovative materials.

The Cone collection will also be a key feature of the Light Lab space at IMM, a series of international laboratories with the most innovative light installations (Hall 3.2, Stand D-020).

Aldo Ciabatti, who has a long-running collaboration with the company and has created some of our most successful collections, has designed the new Nova collection for EMU, a range of furnishings characterised by their small size and extreme functionality.
